Adoption costs
-
Kittens (up to 12months) - $200
-
Cats (12+ months) - $150
-
Puppies (up to 6 months) - $300
-
Dogs (6+ months) - $250
-
Rabbits - $60
This fee helps us to cover all the essential treatments before adoption and also helps us to take care of more animals in need.
At the time of adoption each animal will be dewormed, deflead, vaccinated, desexed, microchipped and come with a welcome pack. Dogs will be registered for the remaining year but registration from the new year onwards registration will be the responsibility of the new owner(s).
If the dog is not desexed at the time of adoption an agreement will be made for desexing of the animal. As we advocate for responsible pet ownership Ruahine Animal Rescue will cover the cost of the desexing as part of the adoption fee.
** Before the adoption is completed Ruahine Animal Rescue will conduct a property inspection to ensure the house and surroundings will be suitable for the pet. We will consider the environment including other pets and children, any special needs of the animal and fencing if required.

A little bit about me:
Meet Caesar – a handsome heart-stealer with brains to match!
Caesar is a stunning 6-year-old Staffy cross with loads of love to give. He’s got great lead manners, a solid sit, and a reliable recall... this boy listens!
Highly intelligent (and a bit of a clever escape artist), Caesar can even open gates, so he’ll need a secure property to keep him safe at home.
He would thrive as the only pet, he’s not a fan of cats and can be a little too enthusiastic around other dogs.
Caesar hasn’t been tested with children, but due to his size and strength, an adult household or one with older kids would be best.
This energetic lad loves a good game of fetch or tug and would make an incredible companion for someone who’s home often, perhaps a workmate out on the property or by your side during the day.
If you’re looking for a loyal, clever, and loving best friend who’ll repay your care with endless devotion, Caesar could be the perfect match.

A little bit about me:
Meet Jed - Fun-loving and energetic.
Jed is house trained, crate trained, and has excellent manners. He sits and waits patiently for his food and is very receptive to being told "no" if he's doing something he shouldn't. He does bark to let you know when someone arrives home, but settles quickly when asked.!
This boy has plenty of energy and would love a family who enjoys playtime and adventure. He can jump surprisingly high, so while he has never attempted to jump out of a section, it's something potential adopters should be aware of.
He's good with other dogs and around cats, and is well used to jumping in the car for a ride. With his intelligence and natural instincts, Jed has all the makings of an outstanding farm dog — he just needs the right person to bring out his full potential.
He is a loving, affectionate dog who absolutely adores people. Great with children, other dogs, cats, and even stock, he would fit into almost any family environment. He loves to play, chase a ball, and carry around a favourite toy, but he's just as happy curling up for cuddles once playtime is over.
With his loving nature, intelligence, and easy-going personality, he really would suit a wide range of homes. Whether you're a family with kids, have other pets, or are simply looking for a loyal companion, he has so much love to give.

A little bit about us:
Meet Little Miss & Poppy – a purrfect pair of sunshine-loving sisters.
Looking for double the love? Little Miss (DLH) and her sister Poppy (DSH) are two beautiful black-and-white sweethearts who share a special bond and we’d love to see them find their forever home together.
These girls are the perfect mix of personalities. Poppy is the curious one - she likes to keep an eye on everything, always ready to investigate what’s going on around her. While she can be a little reserved at first, once she warms up, she’s right in the middle of the action.
Little Miss, on the other hand, is the laid-back sunseeker. She’s more likely to be found stretched out in a warm patch of light, purring contentedly while her sister handles the exploring.
Both girls are affectionate, cuddly, and full of gentle charm. They love their cuddles, enjoy a good chin scratch, and will reward you with soothing purrs and quiet companionship.
If you’re looking to welcome a loving duo into your life, Little Miss and Poppy are ready to fill your home with warmth, purrs, and twice the love.

Millie is a sweet and gentle girl. Growing up in a home that was quiet and safe, Millie is coming to terms with the changes in her circumstances and taking it all in her stride. Ideally, we would love to find a home for Millie that feels familiar to her, somewhere quiet and peaceful where she can relax and take life at her own leisure.
