  • Cats (12+ months) - $150

  • Puppies (up to 6 months) - $300

  • Dogs (6+ months) - $250

  • Rabbits - $60

This fee helps us to cover all the essential treatments before adoption and also helps us to take care of more animals in need.

At the time of adoption each animal will be dewormed, deflead, vaccinated, desexed, microchipped and come with a welcome pack. Dogs will be registered for the remaining year but registration from the new year onwards registration will be the responsibility of the new owner(s).

If the dog is not desexed at the time of adoption an agreement will be made for desexing of the animal. As we advocate for responsible pet ownership Ruahine Animal Rescue will cover the cost of the desexing as part of the adoption fee.

** Before the adoption is completed Ruahine Animal Rescue will conduct a property inspection to ensure the house and surroundings will be suitable for the pet. We will consider the environment including other pets and children, any special needs of the animal and fencing if required.

Caesar3.jpg

Age: Approximately 7 years

Breed: Staffy Cross (M)

Available now

A little bit about me:

Meet Caesar – a handsome heart-stealer with brains to match!

Caesar is a stunning 6-year-old Staffy cross with loads of love to give. He’s got great lead manners, a solid sit, and a reliable recall... this boy listens!

Highly intelligent (and a bit of a clever escape artist), Caesar can even open gates, so he’ll need a secure property to keep him safe at home.

He would thrive as the only pet, he’s not a fan of cats and can be a little too enthusiastic around other dogs.

Caesar hasn’t been tested with children, but due to his size and strength, an adult household or one with older kids would be best.

This energetic lad loves a good game of fetch or tug and would make an incredible companion for someone who’s home often,  perhaps a workmate out on the property or by your side during the day.

If you’re looking for a loyal, clever, and loving best friend who’ll repay your care with endless devotion, Caesar could be the perfect match.

Age: Approximately 3.5 months

Breed: Cross breed (F)

Available now

This adorable 3½-month-old female crossbreed is a sweet, playful little girl who is still learning about the world around her. She can be a little shy when she first meets new people or experiences new things, but with patience, reassurance and time, her lovely personality shines through.

She is learning her basic training and making great progress with her manners. Crate training is already in place, and she gets along wonderfully with other dogs and cats.

She loves to play, explore and have fun, while also enjoying plenty of affection and cuddles.

She would thrive with a loving family who will continue her training, provide plenty of playtime and give her all the love and care she deserves, and help her grow into a happy, well-rounded adult dog.

Ata-2.HEIC

Age: Approximately 10 weeks

Breed: Staffy Cross (F)

Available now

This wee sweetheart has had a difficult start to life but fortunately was rescued from an awful situation.

She was taken from her mother at 5 weeks old. She holds no grudge against the world and as she becomes more confident she shows she is the epitome of trust and love.

She absolutely loves a good cuddle but can wander off and play independently. She is crate trained and getting there on the house trained front.

She loves playing with other dogs regardless of size and gets bolder by the day.

Ata needs a family who is prepared to love her completely and who can continue to work with her on basic training.

Hello Honey!!

Ruahine Animal Rescue is looking for a loving home for this absolute sweetheart!

She is super, super cuddly and just wants to be wherever her people are. She is the kind of dog who is happiest simply being part of the family and getting plenty of love and attention.

She has been hanging out beautifully with her foster family's orphan lambs and her two foster brother dogs, and she has been lovely with children. She would make a fantastic family dog or companion dog.

Great around the lambs

Gets along well with other dogs
Lovely with kids
Crate trained
Sits nicely and waits when being fed
Very affectionate and cuddly

She is inquisitive about cats, this is something her new family will need to keep up training with — she has been taught that cats are for sniffing politely.

She is also a bit of a big sook when she is told no — she definitely lets you know that she isn't impressed!

Overall, she is just a beautiful, loving girl who wants to be with her people. She would suit a family looking for a loyal companion, or someone wanting a lovely dog who will happily spend her days by your side.

Mack.png

Age: Approximately 10 weeks

Breed: Staffy Cross (M)

Available now

Mack had a heartbreaking start, arriving malnourished and unloved, but he's now showing everyone what a gorgeous boy he can be.

Gets on very well with other foster dogs. Mack already knows sit and is almost fully house trained and asking to go outside. He loves cuddles and enjoys exploring outdoors independent.

He has started lead training with a little harness.

Mack is currently on four feeds a day to help him build up his strength, so he needs a home where someone can be around during the day to keep up with his feeding schedule.

He's come such a long way already, and we're looking for someone who will give him the love, patience and security he deserves.

Age: 12 weeks

Breed: Staffy X Husky (F)

Available now

Looking for a best friend who will make you laugh, keep you on your toes, and then curl up beside you for snuggles? Meet Sapphire, a 12-week-old Staffy x Husky mix with a big personality packed into a little body!

Sapphire has been in foster care for the past four weeks, and wow, has she been busy learning! When she first arrived, she needed some help with food resource guarding and impulse control. Thanks to consistent training, plenty of patience, and her absolute obsession with food, Sapphire has made fantastic progress.

This clever girl already knows:

Sit
Down
Wait for food
Crate training (she sleeps in her crate overnight and often puts herself to bed during the day!)

Sapphire has also started clicker training and absolutely thrives on learning new things. If treats are involved, she'll appear faster than a flash of lightning! She is enthusiastic, eager to please, and loves working with her people.

When she's not showing off her smarts, Sapphire is busy being a puppy! She loves:

Playing fetch
Zooming around the backyard
Playing chase games
Snuggling up with her favourite humans
Anything remotely related to snacks

Sapphire has met both dogs and cats while in foster care. She could happily live with a confident cat and would benefit from having a well-mannered, confident dog to help continue teaching her good canine manners.

Because she's still learning about the world and developing her self-control, Sapphire is looking for a home committed to continuing her training journey. She would be best suited to a home without small children and with owners who are willing to invest time in helping this clever girl reach her full potential.

Behind all the puppy energy is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves people and enjoys cuddling up with the staff at work after a busy day of adventures.

Sapphire is smart, cheeky, playful, loving, and ready to steal your heart. If you're looking for a fun companion who will reward your effort with loyalty, laughs, and endless affection, Sapphire could be the perfect addition to your family.
